The intravaginal probe/device is including on a novel technology called Torsional Waves, a type of shear elastic waves that propagate through soft tissue, radially and in-depth in a curled geometry. Torsional Waves are used to diagnose pathologies that manifest themselves through changes in tissue consistency. FineBirth’s patented intravaginal probe measures the consistency (shear modulus) of the cervical tissue, a highly specific, direct marker of pending birth. The shear modulus, in combination with other clinical parameters of the pregnant woman, is used by an Artificial Intelligence algorithm to provide a real-time assessment of whether the woman is experiencing a true or false preterm labor threat and informs health professionals in providing appropriate care.
